Geneva - A day of mistakes

We found out online that there is a large swiss army knife store in Geneva.  We considered making the 45 minute detour to drive through Geneva on our way to Lauterbrunnen to find this store so the kids could buy their knives but changed our minds and decided to go directly to our next home instead.   When we left Chamonix, we somehow made a wrong turn and ended up on the highway to Geneva so we thought we'd check out that store anyways.

Without a map, or data plan, we followed the signs to Geneva and parked our car in what we thought was downtown.  We quickly turned on our roaming to find a Starbucks to get free wifi to figure out where the store is.  Then we hopped back in the car and drove to find the store.

Geneva is not an easy city, streets do not go straight, lanes quickly end and force the driver to turn.  We ended up in a big traffic jam heading over a bridge which we didn't want to go. So Christian did an illegal u-turn which ended up on a ramp going down to a big underground parking garage that we tried to get out of but we didn't validate our ticket and the attendants were really mad  at us when we tried to leave the garage.  Then we ended up driving on the wrong side of a road which was meant only for street cars and the street car drivers were making hand gestures and rolling their eyes at us. Then we parked and decided to quickly turn on our data roaming to get the map but we got a text saying we already reached $100 in roaming fees!  After another hour of navigating through the city we found our way out of the city without the finding the store.

Christian and I were proud of ourselves for keeping our cool and laughing at our mistakes even with 2 grumpy passengers complaining and fighting.
